EU and US reach out to a political agreement on Trans-Atlantic Privacy Framework
On 25 March, 2022, the US President Joe Biden, and the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in a joint press conference that they reached a political agreement on trans-Atlantic data transfers. “We have found an agreement in principle on a new framework for transatlantic data flows. This will enable predictable and trustworthy data flows between the EU and US, safeguarding privacy and civil liberties,” said the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Depending on the written agreement with the data controller, the data processor can, by itself, exercise some control over the processing of the personal data, especially regarding: the IT systems or other methods used to collect and store personal data, the detail of the security surrounding the personal data, the means used to transfer the personal data from one organization to another, etc.
