Janelle Hsia is the Founder and President of Privacy SWAN Consulting.  Janelle is a trainer, consultant, and trusted advisor for strategic and tactical decision-making within global organizations of all sizes. She is focused on the field of privacy and data protection and brings a diverse background with strong leadership, technical, and business skills spanning over 20 years in the areas of project management, IT, privacy, security, data governance, and process improvement. She is not a lawyer and brings her unique perspective regarding how to integrate privacy with security and technology to help companies operationalize their privacy requirements.

A consultant for over 13 years, she has experience in many industries including technology, IT management, software development, high-performance computing, financial services, restaurant management, SCADA, construction/property management, government, integrated justice, education, human resources and training.  She has worked with clients in Australia and across the European Union (EU) specifically in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain & Germany.

She holds the following certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP): Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), Certified Information Privacy Professional in both United States (CIPP/US) and Europe (CIPP/E).  In addition, she is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC).   She is an IAPP Official Training Partner (OTP), an Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Privacy Special Interest Group Tri-Chair, and a past Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Colorado Board Member.
